Home Learning ideas - Year 3

Welcome to Week 2 of Home Learning resources. 

Well done to those children who accessed Purple Mash and Active Learn last week to use Bug Club and complete Spelling and Grammar activities.  This week, children should continue to read their school books every day, as well as their allocation of interactive books on Bug Club (ActiveLearn).   

This week's Spelling and Grammar activity is Common Prefixes.  Keep practising the tasks until Green is scored for each one.    

I have also set you some spellings this week which are from the Year 3 and 4 Statutory Spelling List.  Keep practising and ask someone to test you.  

Purple Mash is a fantastic resource for activities across the curriculum .  Log-in details are at the back of Reading Journals. 

Any children with access to Nessy should continue to use this at home.

Below is this week's set of additional, more structured activities.  These will appear on this page every Monday up to and after the Easter break.

The website Classroom Secrets Kids offers free access to you and your child. You will need to register to use a wealth of resources similar to those we use in school:


IXL have separate pages of skills linked to individual Year group.  Pages are split into skills with a practise question for the children to think about.


BBC Education have produced a whole host of materials for KS2.  Follow the KS2 link and then select either Maths or English.   Each area usually has an information section for reading, plus an activity and then quiz which is marked online.  Some aspects require a subscription.

Finally, to stay active, you can access Cosmic Yoga ( for child-friendly yoga sessions as well as Joe Wicks on Youtube who has some videos aimed at primary age children.  He will be offering a live Youtube session at 9 am every week day from Monday 23rd March.
