Year 4/5 2019 - 2020

Mr Wood

Mr Wood joined the team at Adlington in September 2013. Prior to moving into Primary teaching he worked as a Theatre Designer and college lecturer.

Class 4/5  This is where you will find details of home learning for the coming weeks.

Be sure to keep checking for updates on our school Twitter Account @Adl_Primary -

Hello again! I hope you all had a good week - avoiding the rain whenever possible. Hopefully you did stay occupied and active and do remember that there are always previous projects saved in the Archives in Gallery Items below if you need a challenge.

The BIG NEWS this week is that we might all get to meet in school at the start of next week. Your parents should have already received the information (do remember to keep them checking ParentMail) about Monday 13th July, so do ask them about it. Although brief, it will give us some chance to catch up, share what we've been doing and look ahead to next year. Please make sure that your parents have contacted the school to confirm whether you will be attending or not on that day. There are still lots of things we need to do to be ready, so knowing who's coming is essential.

I have again done separate instruction documents for Year 4 and Year 5, which are listed in Files to Download.

As usual, the instructions indicate which pages of the CGP books should be used during the week.

There are also the usual regular Maths, SPaG and Reading activities. Do remember to use Abacus (Maths), Bug Club (Reading Comprehension) and Grammar and Spelling Bug (SPaG) if you can.

It was another exciting week on Battle of the Bands on Times Tables Rockstars.  Year 4 Girls sneaked past the Year 4 Boys in the last couple of days to gain victory. The Year 5 Battle went right down to the wire - the Year 5 Boys inching ahead of the Year 5 Girls in the final seconds to win by just 8 points! In Gallery Items below there is a file where you can check who were the three MVPs in each group. If you were one you can download and print your certificate. There's another 'Battle' starting at 9:00 am on Monday 6th July. I'll also keep my eye out for any Rock Slam challenges you send me

The 'Projects' are again the same for both Years and this week include Creative Writing (A magical D.A.D. Challenge), Science (Our Biology continues with adaptation), the fifth French session from Madame Howitt, Music from Mrs. Tennant and PE from Mrs. Richardson.  Please remember that these 'Projects' are suggestions, so please do not feel under any pressure to do everything in the week. Previous week's activities can always be found in the Home Learning Archives in Gallery Items below.

The Discussions again went very quiet ths week. The children in school did post their Summer Poems late on Friday afternoon to add to the ones already shared. Do have a read and share yours if you can. Do remember that while I can see anything you post in Scrapbook, I would like work to be shared with the whole class which does need to be through the Discussions. Remember that you can also use the Discussions to ask me questions about the activities you have been set. Do use Class News for anything else you want to share with me or the class.

Please do read the five important rules (in News Items below) for us all to follow when using these facilities. If you have any problems with your login do email the school.
